The four phases of Life Therapy Education (LTE) are Comforting, Healing, Realizing, and Wayfaring. These four phases are a path to healing and so much more. They’re also a path to knowing the life-affirming desires of your heart, realizing your dream, fulfilling the purpose of your life, and faring well as you move forward with your life. This post walks you through the four phases of Life Therapy Education.
The Comforting Phase of Life Therapy Education
The first phase of Life Therapy Education (LTE) is about comforting and strengthening you. It’s about you being heard, seen, believed, understood, validated, and empathized with. It also includes the foundational teachings of Life Therapy Education. The foundational teachings are about The Meaning of Life, What it Means to be Human, The Purpose of Life, and this blog post on The Four Phases of Life Therapy Education (LTE).
The Comforting Phase spans three 90-minute sessions. Your first session is an initial inquiry about your current stresses. It also includes some basic stress management and self-regulation skills. These skills help you comfort yourself.
After your initial inquiry, I send a set of fifteen assessment questionnaires for you to complete and return to me. These questionnaires allow both of us to know more about your personality, strengths, and vulnerabilities in a short period of time.
Your second session in the Comforting Phase is an interview about your life story. Your life story review gives me the overall view of your unique life. It also deepens your understanding of yourself and your life.
In your third and final session of the Comfort Phase, I present your Assessment Summary and Proposed Plan of Care. After this session we enter the Second Phase of LTE and implement your Plan of Care.
The Healing Phase of Life Therapy Education
The second phase of Life Therapy Education (LTE) is the Healing Phase. In this phase, your sessions are 60 minutes. The Healing Phase tends to be the longest phase and involves as many sessions as necessary to help you heal yourself and live a healthier, happier life.
In this phase, you deepen your understanding of the sources of your distress and learn how to feel better. This phase often includes learning how to reduce your stress, resolve anxiety and depression, set healthy personal boundaries, create a safe and comfortable life-zone, process trauma, and improve the quality of your relationships.
The Realizing Phase
Once you have made significant progress in healing yourself, you are ready for the third phase: the Realizing Phase of Life Therapy Education (LTE). The Realizing Phase is about both knowing the life-affirming desires of your heart and realizing your dream and joy.
Only after you have made progress in healing yourself are you able to know the life-affirming desires of your heart. The life-affirming desires of your heart tell you what the purpose of your life is. You have a purpose to fulfill that only you can fulfill. It’s what you’re here to do.
When you know the life-affirming desires of your heart, you are ready to do what it takes to realize your dream and joy. That’s your purpose in life: to make your dream real. When you realize your unique dream and joy, not only do you live a healthier, happier life, but you also influence others to do the same. We all need you to realize the unique purpose of your life! Making your dream and joy come true makes the whole world more wonderful!
The Wayfaring Phase, the Last Phase of Life Therapy Education
The last phase of Life Therapy Education is the Wayfaring Phase. It’s the shortest phase of Life Therapy Education. You’ve received comfort, healed yourself, and are realizing your dream and joy. Now you are ready to fare well on your own as you move forward with realizing your dream and joy. Even though you move forward on your own, I always remain available to you when you need some support.
