What’s an Insight?
An insight is an AH HA! moment that instantly heals and improves your mental health. It’s a flash that comes into your mind from outside. When that AH HA! flash of insight comes, it instantly shows you what you’ve been doing that doesn’t work and what you need to do instead. When it shows you what you need to do instead, it automatically changes your beliefs and behaviors forever. Those changed beliefs and behaviors improve both the quality of your mental health and your relationships.
How Insights Happen
Insights just happen on their own. You can’t force them. They happen unexpectedly and spontaneously. While you can’t force them, you can make yourself available to them in several ways. For example, you can—
- Set and protect times for silent introspection.
- Ask for insights to happen. Then patiently wait for them to come. For example, pray.
- Be curious and ask questions of others whom you respect and admire.
- Work with a mental health specialist, healer, or teacher. Consider professionally supervised use of psychedelic plants.
- Go outside to observe and learn from animal behaviors, especially in the wild. For example, closely observe the behaviors of birds, cats, dogs, squirrels, horses, cows, and others. Be open to the influence of their behaviors.
All the practices listed above are about relaxing; calming your spirit, body, and mind; and being receptive and patient. They make you available for insights to come that improve your mental health.
Why Insights Are so Important
Insights are important because in an AH HA! moment they instantly bring healing and change that improves your mental health. They change the course of your life forever in positive ways. They show you something you’ve been doing that doesn’t work and what you need to do instead. AH HA insights help you heal, grow, and become smarter and wiser.
They change your beliefs and behaviors for the better and improve your mental health and relationships. Some believe that we carry the benefits of our insights into our future lives after this life. I for one believe that is possible. Whatever you believe, believe in your AH HA! moments of insight and the healing and positive changes they bring.
